SdKfz 250/9 Ausf. A and B Reference

Post  HerrLyppe on Sun May 31, 2009 4:05 am

"Kubinka Photo Album Vol. 1" is undoubtedly the best published reference available on the 250/9 Ausf B.
Although it's only one chapter of the book, 16 pages are devoted to the vehicle, providing perspectives I haven't seen available anywhere else. Particularly of the interior.
Despite being a Japanese publication, it includes English text. Not that there's any great insight.
It's been out of print for some time now but is easy enough to find online from one seller or another in Japan. The big task is actually being able to buy it, as most of the buyers won't ship outside Japan.

Panzertracts No. 11-2

Post  HerrLyppe on Sun May 31, 2009 4:22 am

This Panzertracts volume definitely deserves a mention because it includes 4 excerpts from the manual of the interior of the Ausf. A version.
The chapter on the 250/9 only covers 8 pages of this issue, although there is a later chapter on the 140/1 which has some nice photos of the Hangelafette turret as used on the 250/9 Ausf. B.

Tech Intel Vol. 2

Post  HerrLyppe on Sun May 31, 2009 4:45 am

The two Tech Intel Volumes have proven a constant source of reference over the years.
The 250/9 evaluated in this is an Ausf. B. It contains six photos of the vehicle, unfortunately only of the exterior and the turret as usual. Also included in this volume are two photos of the Hangelafette turret from a 234/1 along with a number of other Halftracks covered in separate evaluations.
Vol. 1 contains an evaluation of the SdKfz 140/1, meaning the series covers the really only decent photos of the Hangelafette turret published other than Kubinka Photo Album.

From what i've seen, these can be a little difficult to find these days but nothing a bit of perserverence can't fix.

Xtreme Detail Article

Post  HerrLyppe on Sun May 31, 2009 5:07 am

This is a 4 page article by Thomas Anderson. I don't really know it's origins or it's availability. Sorry! I had it sent to me years ago and I don't remember the source.
It has some nice detail photos of the turret and it's possible in places to discern a few details of the interior.
It has a small description accompanying each photo. Some of which are incorrect, which is really the case for some of those included with the Kubinka Photo Album as well.
