SdKfz 251/9 early vs. late?

Hello, this is my first post. I just learned of this forum from the MissingLynx site. I am working on a 1/48 resin conversion SdKfz 251 D/9. It has the early mount that attaches to the floor. I would like to build the later taller version that was mounted to the roof over the drivers position. Can I use the same gun, barrel, breech etc?

first of all welcome here!
Great that you found your way to this forum.
As for your question, the answer is no.
The guns are different. In the first version the germans used the 7.5cm Kanone 37 and in the late version the Kanone 51.
These guns are, besides the caliber, quite different from one another. If you have Panzer tracts 15-3 you can compare the drawings on page 28-33. If you do not, I can holeheartedly recommend this book and the other one, 15-2, too!
